Real learning outcomes. No classroom required.
Laurie Donnelly designs learning ecosystems: curated, repeatable, and built around how adults actually work and learn. Seven Essentials. Measurable results.
Problem. What was built. What changed.
Three engagements across different sectors. Each grounded in adult learning science and the Seven Essentials framework.
Global Compliance Learning
Simulation-Based Learning
Technical Onboarding
Compliance that people actually engage with
Training aligned to the systems people actually use
Regulatory training built for real-world readiness
NBCUniversal needed to scale global compliance training. Laurie led a multimedia rollout across regions, translating complex policy into accessible, branded learning. Programs launched successfully across 9 languages within budget.
A Bank of America team struggled with complex loan process training. Laurie redesigned 15 loan-processing simulations with SMEs, aligning them to live systems. Errors dropped and compliance was maintained.
Southern California Gas Co. needed structured onboarding for multi-disciplinary engineers. Laurie built a three-tier learning pathway with eLearning, libraries and assessments. The program achieved a 100% audit pass rate.
▸ The framework
Seven Essentials
Every engagement Laurie designs maps to these seven conditions. Strip any one out and learning stalls. Keep all seven and results follow.
Control
Relevance
Social
Adults learn when they direct their own path. Autonomy over pace, sequence, and depth is non-negotiable.
Content earns attention only when it connects to real work. Generic material gets skipped.
Peer discussion and SME-led small groups build understanding that solo reading alone cannot.
Independent
Repetition
Experiential
Self-directed study, at the learner's moment of need, without waiting for the next scheduled session.
Spaced practice, not one-time events. Knowledge sticks when it returns in varied, useful contexts.
Hands-on practice inside real work, not simulations designed to approximate it.
Feedback
Embedded, specific, and timely — feedback built into the work itself, not delivered after the fact.
Design collaborative, mission-driven learning ecosystems that empower adult learners through facilitation, feedback, and real-world application. Andragogy is the practice and theory of helping adults learn, focusing on their independence, prior experience, and need for learning to be relevant and practical.

Facilitation Over Instruction
The focus moves away from “force-feeding content” to enabling learning through support, facilitation, and engagement.
Mission-Relevant Development
Learning solutions are designed to meet the growing demand for professional development and real-world application in modern workplace contexts.
Collaborative Learning Ecosystems
Learning is supported through a connected network of roles, tools, and resources that enable collaboration, guidance, and shared expertise.
